Ford New Zealand has announced the Ranger Super Duty mid-size truck will be arriving in 2026 following close collaboration with fleet customers.
The vehicle has been engineered and designed to deliver higher levels of gross vehicle mass (GVM), gross combined mass (GCM), towing and enhanced off-road capability. This includes 4500kg maximum braked towing capacity, 4500kg GVM and 8000kg GCM.
Its target market is emergency service operators, farmers, utilities and forestry workers, miners, infrastructure technicians and more.
Ford NZ managing director Annaliese Atina says the new model will strengthen the company’s commercial vehicle portfolio with an offering for all kinds of work.
“As we move closer to launch, we will continue to work closely with fleets and vehicle upfitters across the country to be sure that Ranger Super Duty does everything they expect it to, and so much more,” Atina says.
Ford global truck general manager Sondra Sutton Phung says the model was designed in response to customer feedback.
“Ranger Super Duty blends the award-winning traits of Ranger like advanced safety and smart features that we know customers love with heavy-duty capability and delivers something our buyers told us they needed but couldn’t get from any other manufacturer.”
“This work-ready vehicle will give owners the flexibility they need to get the big jobs done and all with an extensive factory-backed warranty,” Sutton Phung says.
The new model was created by Ford’s IMG Product Development team, led by a 1500- strong group of designers, engineers and specialists in Australia. It will be manufactured in Thailand for sale in markets all around the world.
